Edu tweeters - I would like to know your thoughts on story time in the school day. How long do you spend on this? Are any children removed for interventions during this time? Have you got evidence of the benefits of reading aloud to children? Thanks all 📚😊

Our School

About Our School

Context:
Aureus Primary School (formerly known as Chalk Hill Primary School) is being built as part of the Great Western Park development in Oxfordshire. Oxfordshire County Council are responsible for building the new primary school and GLF Schools are currently working in collaboration with them regarding the exact building design and layout. The school is planned to open in September 2018 and is being built to accommodate two forms of entry with a maximum capacity of 420 pupils once full.

Location:
The school will be located in the Great Western Park development to the west of Didcot on a greenfield site, this area is called the Southern Neighbourhood at GWP.

The post code is OX11 6AS.

Status:
Aureus Primary School is not a Free School - it is a new Academy that is being built following a competition run by Oxfordshire County Council under the Targeted Basic Need programme. The Council decided on the need for the school, provided the site and are responsible for building the new school. GLF Schools will run the new school once it is built.

Admissions:
Our admissions will open in September 2017 and close on 15 January 2018.

The school has an admission number of 60 for entry in year Reception. The school will accordingly admit this number of pupils each year if there are sufficient applications. Where fewer applicants than the published admission number(s) for the relevant year group are received, the Academy Trust, GLF Schools, will offer places at the school to all those who have applied.

When the school is oversubscribed, after the admission of pupils with an Education, Health and Care plan or statement of special educational needs naming the school, priority for admission will be given to those children who meet the criteria set out in the oversubscription criteria. These criteria will be published in the Autumn term 2017.

Construction:
Building work is commencing on site in June 2017.

Community Briefings:
We will be holding a number of open days/ evenings, community events and other occasions for parents, at Aureus Secondary School, to find out more about Aureus Primary School so that you can meet our staff and hear our vision in the Autumn term.

Recruitment:
We are looking to appoint the initial team to start in the Spring term of 2018. Career opportunities will be published in the Autumn term, please register your interest in all anticipate vacancies for primary school leaders, teachers and support staff here: https://app.hellotalent.com/applicationForm?key=4061a043-b4e8-4cba-afc1-4171c0e34ca9
