World Book Day 2022

This week has been all about celebrating reading at Aureus Primary School.

On Wednesday, we were excited to welcome the librarians from Didcot Library in to visit our Early Years and Key Stage 1 children. The children were excited to meet the librarians, hear about all the exciting events the library offer and look at some of their newest and most exciting books. We are very excited for our Key Stage 2 visits out to the library to begin next week too where all of the children will have the opportunity to borrow a book for the next 6 weeks.

Yesterday was an extra special day as we celebrated World Book Day! The children looked fabulous dressed as their favourite characters from literature and there was such a buzz around the school as children (and staff!) got excited about reading. I think you'll all agree that everyone looked fantastic and an extra big shout-out goes to Mrs Roberts who dressed as Princess Pearl from Zog by Julia Donaldson.

The icing on the cake has been getting "buddy reading" back underway across the school. It was wonderful to see older children and younger children coming together to enjoy a love of reading. We can't wait for our next buddy reading session to come around!
